Alanis Morissette
Alanis Nadine was born the 1st June 1974 in Ottawa, Canada. Alanis can be described as the female name of Alan the name of her father's initial name. Her mother's name's Georgia and she has two brothers, Chad and Wade (Alanis' Twin). When she was just 6 she began to play the piano. Then, at 21 she became a guitarist. In 1986 Alanis made a single called Fate Stay With My (b-side: Find The Right Man). In Canada, Alanis recorded two dance-pop albums: Alanis (in 1991) and the album Now Is The Time in 1992. At the age of 18, she relocated from NYC to Toronto in Canada, where collaborations with writers and musicians did not work. In 1994, she came across the perfect collaborator: writer and producer Glen Ballard, who had been working with numerous artists, including Aretha Franklin Michael Jackson and Barbra Streisand. After that, she relocated to LA in the age of 19. The 13th of June, 1995 "Jagged Little Pill" was released through Madonna's Maverick Records. Alanis discovered an extremely personal, autobiographical technique for writing songs. JLP was sold to around 30 million copies worldwide which makes it the top-selling female album ever. Also, it is the third most popular album of all time. After going through emotional conflicts (when she even contemplated having another album recorded) and an excursion to India
